Production of the next generation is being split between Munich and Dingolfing, with a new battery facility in Irlbach-Straßkirchen.

BMW plans to build the all-electric i3 in Munich, while combustion-engine and plug-in hybrid 3 Series models are assigned to Dingolfing. The project forms part of the wider Neue Klasse production update.
The announced investment totals around €2 billion. Funding covers production sites, while a new Bavarian facility will supply sixth-generation battery cells.
The milestone car is a BMW M4 Competition Convertible for the US market. The plant has built BMWs since 1973 and will begin producing the new 3 Series Sedan in November.
Germany comes first. The Level 2 system will still require an attentive driver.
The partnership focuses on electric off-road motorcycles. Venna will remain independent; BMW did not disclose the investment amount or stake.
