The milestone car
BMW Group published the announcement on 29 October 2026. The M4 Competition Convertible, finished in Borusan Turkish Blue, is destined for the US. BMW said it had left the line a few days before the announcement but did not give the exact date.
From the first 5 Series to the new 3 Series
The first BMW completed at Dingolfing, on 27 September 1973, was a first-generation 5 Series. The plant now builds the 4, 5 and 7 Series and the electric iX; the new 3 Series Sedan is due to join them in November. BMW Group says more than 80% of the plant’s vehicles are destined for export.
