Burkard Bovensiepen founded ALPINA in Buchloe in 1965. Its first engineering work adapted carburettors for the BMW 1500, and the marque was already racing in the 1960s. From 1978 it built road cars based on BMW models; in 1983 it became registered in Germany as an independent vehicle manufacturer. The family company ended its own vehicle programme at the end of 2025. On 1 January 2026, BMW ALPINA launched as an exclusive standalone brand within BMW Group.
High performance paired with comfort: engines, chassis, aerodynamics and bespoke interiors.
